Topic: Machine Guarding, Interlocks & Safety Circuitry

The discuss will include a review of machine guarding hazards including applicable OSHA regulations as well as consensus (ASME) standards. In addition, we will discuss the use and limitations of interlocks. Pictures of actual machine guarding violations will also be reviewed.

Guest Speaker: Jon Wallace, MBA, CSP – President of The Workplace Group

W. Jon Wallace, CSP, MBA is the President of Workplace Safety. Jon is a Certified Safety Professional with nearly three decades occupational safety experience and is nationally recognized in the area of occupational safety. His industrial experience includes Mobil Oil and Hercules.In addition to safety consulting, Jon is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the School of Public Health at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He teaches various safety topics including NFPA 70E – Electrical Safety as well as OSHA compliance courses. Jon is frequently interviewed on TV concerning workplace fatalities and has been a regular guest on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines.” Jon’s hobbies include WVU sports and triathlons – he is a three-time Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon finisher.
