October Technical Meeting – Injury Prevention in the Industrial Setting

  • October Technical Meeting
     October 12, 2017
     12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Topic: Injury Prevention in the Industrial Setting – Material Handlers Skills Training

Material Handlers Skills Training (MHST) is the cornerstone of the proactive outreach programs.  The concepts presented during MHST serve as a reference point for future physical therapy outreach programs throughout the workplace.  From an injury prevention standpoint, ergonomics can be approached from three different directions.  The convergence of these paths is where companies can realize the greatest reduction in risk of Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD).

Guest Speaker: Frank Murray, MSPT – President/CEO of Industrial Motions, Inc.

Frank A. Murray MSPT, is a physical therapist graduate of Sacred Heart University class of 2001.  After spending the first fours years of his career practicing in the outpatient, acute care, and home health settings, Frank turned his focus to working with companies and their employees.  Frank founded Industrial Motions, Inc in 2007.  Since that time he has been working exclusively with employers in order to help manage and prevent work related MSD’s.  Frank has worked with a number of larger manufacturing companies over the past 10 years including John Deere, Eaton Corporation, and Columbus Mckinnon.  Industrial Motions has a full time contract 10 years running with the Goodyear Tire  and Rubber company, at their Fayetteville NC, factory.  During this time Industrial Motions has provided injury prevention services to Goodyear Fayetteville, which have help them reduce their workers compensation costs by %60 annually. Industrial Motions’s, programs are now being used Globally as part of Goodyear’s initiative to reduce the risk of WMSD’s.  Most recently, Industrial Motions has contracted with the Great Lakes Cheese Company, out of Hiram Ohio, to provide similar programs for their nine packaging facilities throughout the U.S.  Frank resides in Apex, North Carolina with his wife and three children and is a licensed PT in Both North Carolina and Virginia.
